Peluso Microphone Lab Presents: Yellow Couch Sessions
Stolen Jars: Bright Red

The songwriting and arrangements from Stolen Jars both immediately jumped out at me. I also appreciated the fact that their most recent and excellent release, "glint," was released as a visual EP and each song is paired with an equally intriguing video component. Taken all together, it's easy to understand why NPR's Bob Boilen singled them out as a band to watch at last year's CMJ festival.
For this video, we used lots of great Peluso mics, including a new handheld microphone with a large diaphragm condenser capsule called the Peluso Stage One or PS1, which we used to mic Cody's guitar cabinet. Chris Newett from Peluso describes the microphone thusly: "It is a true large diaphragm condenser hand held stage mic. "It is equipped with on board 18dB pad, high-end and low-end roll-off switching. It's phantom powered, solid state, all with balanced transformer output stage."
Here are the other mics used:
Cody vocals: P-84: solid state microphone, http://www.pelusomicrophonelab.com/microphones/P-84.html
Sarah vocals: P-12: tube microphone, http://www.pelusomicrophonelab.com/microphones/P12.html
Drum overhead: P-49: vacuum tube microphone, http://www.pelusomicrophonelab.com/microphones/P-49.html
Keys (recorded through Vox AC-15, provided by our buds at Empire Music): TR-14: tube-ribbon microphone, http://www.pelusomicrophonelab.com/microphones/TR14.html
All audio for Yellow Couch Sessions is recorded and mixed by Steven Foxbury of Yellow Couch Studio. Video for this session was shot and edited by awesome partner, Matt Dayak.
